Shakira to close World Cup -Waka Waka world cup song

When we think of South Africa, Shakira may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but the Colombian, hip-shaking singer will headline the closing ceremony at the World Cup on Sunday.

A spokesman for the event says the closing will have a number of special effects, and will be “more youthful and a bit more technologically advanced” than the tournament’s opening, which featured a cool, more traditional African ceremony.

Shakira is slated to perform the World Cup’s official anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”
